Job Description

Position Overview:

The Developer will work with a fast-paced and dynamic marketing team to turn business realities into SEO-friendly, functional, and aesthetically pleasing web content. The Developer will be involved in strategic decision-making around how to build and optimize digital marketing campaigns. We prioritize proven work, so please make sure to submit work samples with your application (links to live projects preferred). You'll probably need at least two years of experience in a web development role to meet the qualifications below, but we're not opposed to hiring a prodigy.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Designing and implementing new features and functionality

  • Establishing and guiding the website's architecture

  • Ensuring high-performance and availability, and managing all technical aspects of the CMS
    • Helping formulate an effective, responsive design and turning it into a working theme and plugin

    • Working in conjunction with marketing team to implement brand standards and consistency across our entire web presence

  • Know your computer science

  • Have a strong CS background, to choose the right algorithms, systems approach and patterns to solve problems, without reinventing the wheel

  • Candidates need to be able to hit the ground running. Therefore, 3+ years of professional development experience in a world-class engineering organization is helpful

  • Be passionate about delivering delightful user experiences by working closely with the design and product teams and with end users

    • Be an expert in multiple layers of the stack

    • Experience with application and UX development using a modern framework such as Redux and React

    • Ability to build, extend, and debug application framework components

    • Design server/client communications to make efficient use of data bandwidth (i.e. pagination/tiling, caching, and progressive loading)

    • Understand rendering pipeline from component definition to graphics pipeline (i.e. WebGL)

    • Act as a technologis

Education and Experience:

  • Strong PHP (or other object-oriented programming) background

  • Familiarity with WordPress theming and plugin development strongly preferred

  • Familiarity with PHP frameworks like Laravel or Symphony preferred

  • Understanding of relational databases such as MySQL

  • Be comfortable with server administration (though by no means at expert level)

  • Well versed in CSS, HTML, AJAX, and JavaScript

  • Well versed in at least one CSS preprocessor like Grunt, Gulp, or Webpack as well as build tools

  • Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks like Vue.js, Angular or React, a plus

  • A love of creative problem solving

  • Comfortable working on tight deadlines and in a team environment

  • In general, a nice person to be around who enjoys tackling challenges and learning new skills

  • Comfortable with version control--Git preferred

Communication: Communicates well both verbally and in writing, creates accurate and punctual reports, delivers presentations, shares information and ideas with others, has good listening skills.

Customer Service: Demonstrates concern for meeting internal and external customers' needs in a manger that provides satisfaction for the customer within the resources that can be made available.

Work Environment: May work in a variety of environments including professional offices, clinics, hospitals, or out-patient facilities. They spend much of their time on their feet, actively working with patients.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
